Ride the Keweenaw Weekend
The weekend is being planned to celebrate the designation of the Copper Harbor mountain bike trails by the International Mountain Bicycling Association (IMBA) as an "Epic Ride" in October, 2009. The event is additinoally intended to highlight the diversity of all four of the Keweenaw's mountain bike trail systems and exceptional opportunities to ride (within 50 miles) between Houghton and Copper Harbor, Michigan
The Copper Harbor Trails Club has engaged to undertake the long proposed Keweenaw Point Trail project. This +/- 25 mile human powered trail would become a significant recreational and economic resource for the region. All proceeds from the dinners will help to formally launch a major fundraising campaign to assist in funding the estimated $365,000 project.
